Ballot Watchers Endure Marathon Night At Aiken County
Precinct 38 ballots arrived as 60 precincts prepared for a long counting night. An IBM computer setup counting up to 600 ballots per minute was tested, professionals and supporters watched results appear on a wall chalkboard, and candidates including Rep. Billy Jones and Rep. Tom Woodruff greeted voters while Chad McKinney shared his campaign experience. The late-night tally concluded after 1 a.m. with tired but satisfied supporters.
