Woman testifies in Arkansas murder trial details grisly case

S.C. woman Rose Ellen Cushman described how co-defendant James Baughman fatally beat and stabbed Joanne Kneece and James Suggs in a Pea Ridge home. She testified of plotters Etheridge Kneece Larry Lorenzen and “The Tattoo Man,” the $169,000 payment, subsequent disposals, and her own role luring Kneece. Cushman led authorities to the ravine where the bodies were dumped. Baughman and Cushman were later arrested in Berryville with the victims’ car and the bloody van.

Hodges trims own pay to show fiscal restraint

Gov Jim Hodges announced a four percent pay cut from 106078 to 101835 after backing a statewide 4 percent across the board reduction. Spokeswoman Cortney Owings said governors may reduce their own pay and Hodges sought bipartisan support while Lt Gov Bob Peeler's spokesman Luke Byars noted Peeler has cut wages since 1995. Critics from Charlie Condon argued the move is PR with staff raises of up to 25 percent in two years.
