Ports Authority Buys 500-Acre Cooper River Tract
The South Carolina Ports Authority will pay 1.5 million dollars for a 500 acre tract along the Cooper River in Charleston. The site, part of a 3,000 acre area, includes river frontage and tidal creeks, with plans to add berths and expand to 11 ocean freight berths after dredging. Don Welch says the site was one of three considered and environmental factors prompted reevaluation.
