Spoleto Festival USA Returns to Charleston With New Look
Spoleto Festival USA opens its 34th season in Charleston with openings at City Hall and Dock Street Theatre after an $18 million renovation. Ticket sales run about 20 percent ahead of last year as the festival features Opera Flora, Rihm Proserpina, Haydn Phi lemon and Baucis, plus Gate Theater Present Laughter and Ebony Hillbillies. The finale will be outdoors at Middleton Place with the Carolina Chocolate Drops and a fireworks show.
