Meth lab busts yield eight arrests in Aiken County

Aiken County narcotics investigators raided four suspected meth labs after community complaints. Eight people were arrested and a ninth suspect was being sought. Property reported stolen across the CSRA was recovered, with labs operating in the county identified by Sgt. Dave Myers of the sheriff's office.

Meth Lab Discoveries Uncovered Across Counties

Investigators found a meth lab in a wooded area off Pine Log Road Warrenville on May 18. On May 19 they traced another lab to the Rainbow Motel Clearwater where meth and stolen items were recovered during break-ins across Aiken and Richmond counties, according to Myers.

Aiken district moves on five year school building plan

After a decisive defeat of a 236 million bond referendum, the Aiken County School District will continue its five year building program. Deputy Superintendent David Caver said the district will proceed with planned projects including a $6 million cafeteria and kitchen at Jackson Middle School and rely on existing funds plus annual building proceeds of about 14 million. The district may reconsider closing New Ellenton Middle School due to low enrollment.
