North Augusta City Council weighs sidewalk and road work plans

Aiken Memorial Day Parade Honors World War II Veterans

The Memorial Day parade in downtown Aiken will honor World War II veterans with the theme Thank You World War II Veterans. The Aiken Marine Corps League will host a free breakfast for the first 100 veterans and wives at Golden Corral from 8 to 10 a.m. Reservations stood at 39 on Tuesday. The parade, at 1 p.m. along Park Avenue and Laurens Street, features the Parris Island Band Fort Gordon Band and Fort Jackson Band plus a U S Navy submarine veterans float with a 40 foot submarine model. A wreath laying ceremony is set for 11 a.m. Monday at the Aiken County Veterans Memorial Park.
