Chemical incident at Aiken Regional clears after unknown cause
Officials say a chemical release occurred at Aiken Regional Medical Centers emergency department Sunday. By Monday midnight the emergency department was fully operational with no foreign substance in the air. Ambulances were diverted but no other areas were affected.

One-armed Graniteville man linked to regional thefts
A 33-year-old Graniteville man, Matthew Kraig Kirby of Midland Drive, was arrested in Augusta for auto thefts after police recovered a 2003 Land Rover stolen in Aiken. Witnesses saw a one-armed man fitting Kirby’s description remove the vehicle from a Southside Aiken car wash. Police report notes the driver heard of the theft while in the waiting room.
