The forty sixth annual South Carolina Grand Lodge Knights of Pythias opens in Aiken with headquarters at Hotel Henderson and sessions in the Aiken County courthouse. About two hundred delegates are expected, with golf, a barbecue, and tours planned. Harry M. Love of Indianapolis will attend as honor guest.

W. T. Bovard of Linville North Carolina has been chosen as manager of the Highland Park Hotel for the upcoming winter season succeeding Ralph C. Frood of Easthampton New York. Supreme Court Hears Extra Pay Argument

The South Carolina Tuberculosis Association and county units report 37 076.76 from the annual Christmas seals sale. Thirty counties contributed 52.53 from segregated Negro sales. Thirteen counties showed growth vs last year while 5 percent goes to the National TB Association. County groups retain 21 111.35 and the State 13 280.56 for 19 unorganized counties. Local man charged with murder in Leesville case
David Moore is jailed on murder charges in the death of Less Moore. Less Moore died Saturday at Leesville hospital after being shot near Jones Cross Roads Sunday night May 10. Officials say the fatal wound was allegedly inflicted by David Moore.

Windsor man convicted of assault and battery in grand sessions
In the spring term of the Court of General Sessions Mark Vance of Windsor was found guilty of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature after an earlier trial on assault with intent to kill and prohibition violations. He received a sentence of sixty days. Vance was accused of striking Magistrate G. W. S. Byars over the head with a bottle during an attempted arrest on a prohibition charge.
