Cache of dynamite found at Bath Pond
A cache of dynamite sticks was discovered on the northern edge of Bath Pond by boys building a pasture fence. They reported two negroes fled the scene as they approached. Sheriff J P Howard and deputies investigated but found nothing alarming. The dynamite was dumped into the pond. no caps were found.

Drowns in Horse Creek Second in Eight Days
The second drowning in eight days occurred Saturday afternoon in Horse Creek near the bridge at Aiken County. Hack O Shields of Clearwater, about 50, was fishing when his line tangled on a branch. He entered the water to free it, reportedly cramped, and could not escape the swift current. His body was recovered about 30 minutes later. He leaves a wife and several children in Clearwater. Earlier, Brooks Hollingsworth, 21, a Bath textile worker, drowned at Langley Pond two weeks prior.

Honeymoon Couple Hurt In Auto Wreck Near Danville
Mr and Mrs James Watson Wright of Johnston formerly Miss Lillian Eubanks daughter of Mr and Mrs W M Eubanks of Aiken married here last Wednesday were severely injured on their honeymoon Friday morning in a car collision near Danville Va Mrs Wright suffered severe facial cuts and a possible fractured skull was ruled out later Mr Wright had cuts on his hands and wrists both are improving in a Danville hospital.

Escape of County Chain Gang Inmate Sparks Reward
Arthur Brown, a colored convict on county chain gang number one, escaped last Saturday from a truck he was riding. He leaped from the vehicle and vanished into the woods before guards could recapture him. A standard reward is offered for his arrest.

Two Men Struck by Lightning at Gregg Park
At Gregg Park on a Tuesday afternoon Tom Collins and C A Whittle of Graniteville were struck by lightning near a drinking fountain as a switchboard was hit. Both were rushed to Aiken Hospital in unconscious states but recovered. Whittle was discharged the next day while Collins remained hospitalized with facial and arm injuries and a broken collarbone.
