Caring caregivers plan for aging care debt and discussions
A survey finds two thirds have done little or no planning for future care in old age. About 32 percent set aside money for ongoing living assistance and 28 percent adjusted homes for aging. An AP-NORC survey shows most Americans over 40 misjudge nursing home costs and home health care. Medicare often does not cover long term care, while support grows for government programs and tax breaks to fund or save for care. The telephonic survey of 1419 adults aged 40 plus ran March 13 to April with funding from the SCAN Foundation.

Brooks bond turmoil stretches between Texas and Barnwell
Denton County lawmen failed to find Brooks at a vacated home while a bond revocation hearing shifted to this week. Todd Rutherford, Brooks’s attorney and a state legislator, cited scheduling issues. Prosecutors consider withdrawing Texas charges, citing a civil path, as Brooks allegedly paid back $8,000 to a victim with a promissory note for the rest. Aiken case slated for October trial concerns funds tied to the Charles Howell Trust.
