An explosion shattered a Pentagon restroom early today, hours after an antiwar group claimed bombing the Air Force Secretary's office. A Defense Department spokesman said the blast could have been a bomb. No injuries were reported as the restroom and adjoining corridor sustained heavy damage.
The Queen Elizabeth 2 with 2350 passengers and crew steamed toward Europe as Royal Army bomb disposal experts searched for six alleged bombs after an anonymous New York call demanding 350000 dollars. No devices were found and a precautionary search continued.
Washington sources say a strategic arms control accord with the Soviet Union is nearly ready for announcement as President Nixon undertakes a final round of conferences ahead of his departure Saturday for the Moscow summit.
