Pasta dispute ends in shooting and charges in Pittsburgh

Police say Michael Stefanowicz assaulted his wife Mary after a pasta dispute over manicotti. The wife’s brother James Shenkel allegedly tried to shoot Stefanowicz. a bullet hit a living room wall. Shenkel faces aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and gun charges.

Miracles Join Cancer Walk At Aiken Relay Event

Thousands gathered at Hagood Stadium for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in Aiken South Carolina with more than 60 teams walking for 12 hours. Mona Martin recalled a near fatal leukemia battle and credited thalidomide treatment with a miracle cure. Joe Zimmerman a WWII infantryman and cancer survivor urged regular checkups after a PSA test detected his cancer. The event honored victims and raised funds with luminary candles and community support.

Ethics panel fines former Aiken Center director

The State Ethics Commission fined Teresa G. Anderson 2000 dollars and issued a public reprimand for failing to comply with state paperwork laws. The Aiken Center for Alcohol and Drug Abuse is under SLED scrutiny over its financial accounts. Herbert N. Mattocks was appointed to lead the center months ago.

Ethics panel fines Aiken Center official for noncompliance

The South Carolina ethics commission ordered Ms. Anderson of the Aiken Center to file an economic interest statement in December 1995. She did not respond, was fined $100 in March 1996, and the fine rose to $600 after four months of nonresponse. Certified letters were sent from April to July, with the July notice noting the $600 total. A $2,000 judgment could be suspended if she pays the $600.
