Amendments Move On Tide Lands Bill In Senate
In Columbia AP reports new amendments to a tidelands protection act are set to be offered as debate continues. Lt. Gov. Earle Morris broke a 16 16 tie to allow Senate action while Sen. Rembert Dennis warns delay could kill the bill due to House opposition. An inland residents voice amendment on the Interagency Council on Tidelands increases council seats from three to five with limits on Atlantic border representation. Another change tightens private claimants tax payment rule from 10 years to within three years of the due date.
