Aiken Junior Woman's Club Wins State Awards
At the South Carolina Federation of Women's Clubs state convention the Aiken Junior Woman's Club earned the Pro gram Council Award for best carried out federation goals and the Somerset Award for the top central district project Wee Sean. The club also won major awards in five divisions including arts and crafts where six of ten entries earned first or second places. An auction fundraiser is planned for Nov 9 at Houndslake Country Club.

Centralized Magistrate Hearings Approved for Six Month Trial
Aiken County Council approved a six month trial to centralize preliminary magistrate court hearings. Solicitor Harte said no extra staff or cost, and hearings will use existing recording equipment in the council chambers. Trial begins July 15 with weekly magistrate assignments and a three month review period.
