Editorial on County Budget Shows Signs of Strength
The county budget for fiscal 1999 2000 totals 65 million with no property tax levy increase and four percent employee raises. It funds solid waste, road work, innovative financing for a new jail, and debt cost savings while praising Administrator Shepherd and Finance staff. The editorial cautions council interference, recalls past austerity, and urges prudent spending and a May 18 public hearing to keep a conservative, balanced budget trajectory.
