Columbia athletic director Mike McGee says the United States Olympic Committee has contacted him about its chief executive opening. Through spokesman Kerry Tharp he says he would be receptive to more information but nothing firm has occurred. He has two years left on his contract with the university, paying a base salary of 176,888.

Earnhardt Jr backs seat belt break theory in crash
Dale Earnhardt Jr said the seat belt in his father’s car was broken during the Daytona 500 crash. He dismissed a rescue worker’s claim the belt was intact when crews arrived and said there are two sides to the story. He maintains the belt broke.
