Seniors face rising health costs and Medicare gaps
In 1980 to 1982 Congress weighed health care costs for seniors. The Select Committee on Aging notes Medicare pays about 38 percent of the typical senior’s bill with out-of-pocket costs up over 200 percent since Medicare began. The initial deductible rose to 260 dollars in 1982, a 27.5 percent jump from 1981 and 550 percent since inception. The message urges seniors to secure hospital insurance now.
