County Eyes New Revenue Sources For Aiken County
County Administrator W Scott Barnes told the Aiken Kiwanis Club that federal funding cuts and tax relief push require economy and more with less. He cited 35 percent of revenue from property taxes and suggested fees for services at landfills, EMS bill collection improvements, delinquent tax collection, and reorganizing operations to save money. A reassessment will double property values but millage may fall, keeping revenue growth under 1 percent.
