Guardian dog Maggie adopts goats and sheep on farm
Willis ton resident Jimmy Furtick owns Maggie a three year old Great Pyrenees who recently adopted two goats and a sheep after one puppy died. Sunny Brantley of Springfield says the farm adjoins theirs and notes Maggie’s unusual maternal instinct. Maggie’s litter appeared in late November 2002 and is being weaned. Great Pyrenees are guardian dogs by nature.

Museum group gathers in Aiken for three day conference
The South Carolina Federation of Museums held its annual three day conference in Aiken with a Joye Cottage tour. Attendees from Columbia Walterboro Camden Illinois and Illinois praised the event. Sessions covered grant writing rental decisions controversial topics and the economic impact of cultural institutions in South Carolina. An evening reception at the Aiken County Historical Museum featured docents at Joye Cottage.

Jennifer Raun, daughter of Dr. David and Mrs. Lynne Auth, earned the Cadet of the Year Award for Civil Air Patrol South Carolina. She is a USC Columbia sophomore in Army ROTC majoring in criminal justice administration and works toward the Spaatz Award.
