Doctor Punished for Plot To Kill Son

Aiken plastic surgeon Dr. Shirley Ann Madison received a 20 year sentence suspended to 90 days work release and probation after pleading guilty to assault with intent to kill her son Adam. The court heard the plan involved slitting his throat on Sept 30 1998 and that the boy survived aided by a nanny.

Gateman Aiken Gatekeeper Guides Start for Young Horses

Peter Krebs trains at the Aiken Training Track teaching foals to use the starting gate and burst from the gate. He moved to Aiken five years ago with his wife Claire seeking stability after decades of traveling with horse teams. Krebs previously wintered for 11 years with Paul Mellon horses and now works for Ron Stevens as hundreds of horses pass through the facility each year. He began in racing by hot walking in upstate New York before advancing to gate training duties.

Five candidates square off in North Augusta forum

North Augusta voters heard five candidates for South Carolina House Seat 3 in a Meet the Candidates session hosted by the Optimist Club. Republicans Eddie Butler Arthur Shealy and Don Smith joined Democrat Nathaniel Irvin and Evelyn Robinson to discuss education the Bobby Jones Expressway and taxes. The race fills the seat left by Scott Beck with primaries set April 4 and a possible Republican runoff two weeks later. The general election is May 23.
