A 19 year old woman was sexually assaulted in her Pershing Drive yard in North Augusta. She fought back by throwing sand in the suspect’s face and fled to nearby homes calling 911. Officers set a perimeter with Aiken bloodhound search but did not locate a suspect identified as a tall, clean shaven Black male in a navy windbreaker and bedroom slippers.
Aiken County Sheriff Randy Price was fired following a domestic altercation in Salley. The deputy, hired under a contract with Wagener, had his vehicle gun and badge seized during the investigation. Sheriff Howard Sellers had warned of dismissal if charges proved valid and condemned officers dictating lawful conduct.
