The mansion will not reopen to public gatherings until late May or early June. Morton Brilliant said Hodges leaves it to legislators to resolve the funding.

She asserts she told Gov Hodges months ago she had no desire to be appointed. Thurmond, 98, plans to serve his full term ending January 2003.
