Senior health program focus at Aiken Rotary meeting

Rotary members heard about the South Carolina DHEC In-Home Prevention Services for Seniors program offered in Aiken Allendale and Barnwell counties. The service includes in home health history review safety screening emotional health and social support assessment and tailored health promotion plans. Eligible seniors 65 plus living at home in the three counties may call 643-1969 or 1-800-776-3939 for information. Walter Schumacher thanked members for bell ringing participation and challenged the club to defend Salvation Army award laurels this year.

Shamrock fund-raiser to revive Blackville landmark hotel

Ray Miller and Historical Business Ventures Inc plan a March 18 fundraiser at the Blackville Community Center to restore the Shamrock hotel and retail space once part of the Charleston Hamburg line. Admission is 10 dollars for adults and 7 for children with music by the King George Session Band. The group seeks 1.5 million dollars through phased reconstruction, with grants and private investment to follow.
