Dogs provide comfort in funeral homes expanding role
In White Plains New York a funeral home welcomes Lulu the therapy dog to comfort mourners, part of a growing trend in which funeral homes employ trained dogs and other animals to ease grief. Krause Funeral Home in Milwaukee notes how dogs shift mood, helping children and stressed families. The National Funeral Directors Association says more members are using animals, from dogs to cats, including certified therapy animals or well-behaved family pets, during services.
