Johnson’s faith anchors relatives amid cancer battle and Relay memories
Lynn Drinkwater recalls Emily Johnson fighting ovarian cancer with grace and resolve. Two teens Cassandra Rivera and Danielle Carr filled in as church Relay team captains. Hannah McGee, 10, wrote a prayer letter whose line about God having a plan moved volunteers. Johnson’s grandson Matthew, born nine months after her passing, will be told of his grandmother’s love and faith.

Moore claims broad backing in aiken area as he eyes November
Veteran lawmaker Moore, who won 64 percent in a three way primary, credits local support in Aiken Edgefield and McCormick counties where he carried 93 to 95 percent. He links education health care and jobs as interlinked priorities and criticizes Sanford for vetoing a 6.6 billion state budget. Moore hopes to partner across parties to tackle Avondale Mills closures and economic challenges in the Palmetto State. He plans to meet residents statewide and thanks his family and supporters for help.
