A man was struck and killed by a Norfolk Southern train while walking along tracks near Old Carrie Road in Gloverville. Officials said the incident was reported by the train company and an official from Aiken County was en route from Columbia for further information.

Body found after blaze in Salley home

Guards Tear Down Dock At Camp Long For Training

Heavy rains left an aging Camp Long dock submerged but 30 National Guardsmen from the 12nd Engineer Battalion continued demolition and site clearance. Lt. Robert Stewart said the work, part of training, makes area safer for youth programs under Clemson University and the Department of Juvenile Justice. Officials plan to relocate the Youth Challenge Academy across the lake to expand space for the Youth Development Center and accommodate more youths.
