Shared lane bike markings eyed for Silver Bluff Road

Lex, head of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Committee, says shared lane markings cost about 6 500 dollars per mile, totaling near 13 000 dollars for both sides on Silver Bluff Road, within a widening project approved by City Council in 2008. The committee’s earlier requests for bike-only lanes and wide shoulders were denied, and Planning Commission calls the markings unsafe while some residents supported bike lanes on Hayne Avenue.
