North Charleston sanitation workers arrested for metal theft
Five city sanitation employees, four drivers and an operator, were fired for selling recycled metal from the city’s pickups. The scheme began weeks ago with refrigerators and air conditioners, defrauding the general fund as the city missed its typical 400 to 600 dollar payment. One former worker cited low wages as motivation, but officials said theft is inexcusable.
