Hole in one winner forced to choose between truck and amateur status

Aiken High School junior James Costigan hit a 172 yard hole in one on May 30 at Midland Valley Golf Club during the St Marys Golf Classic. The prize was a brand new pickup for the par 3 eighth hole, but accepting the car would mean giving up amateur status under USGA rules. Costigan plans to take the truck after consulting the USGA and local associations, risking ineligibility for Division 1 golf.
