Two Savannah River Ecology Laboratory staff members were named to national conservation roles. Dr. I Lehr Brisbin joins the IUCN crocodile specialists group for a three year term, and Dr. John J Mayer was reappointed to the IUCN pigs and peccaries group for 1985 87.

Texas Rancher Named Chief of Soil Conservation Service
Wilson Scaling, a 46 year old Texas rancher from Henrietta, was named chief of the Soil Conservation Service in the Agriculture Department. He will take over May 21 and replaces Peter C. Myers, who was confirmed as assistant secretary for natural resources and environment. Scaling is a Texas Tech graduate and manager of his family tarpee operation established before the century’s turn.
