Black traveling salesmen attacked on Carson Beach in Boston

About 100 whites attacked six black traveling salesmen at Carson Beach in South Boston injuring one. Police quoted James Barrowright of South Carolina as saying they had worked all week and only wanted to enjoy the beach while assailants hurled racial slurs.

HEW Conducted LSD Tests on Prisons and Patients

The Department of Health Education and Welfare oversaw LSD tests on about 2500 prisoners mental patients and paid volunteers from 1954 to 1968.
