Dollar General and Subway planned for Jackson strip mall
Palmetto Properties will add Dollar General and a Subway totaling 11 000 square feet on Atomic Road in Jackson. Dollar General store will be 7 486 square feet with no grand opening date yet. Subway is 1 500 square feet with a December opening and a drive through.

Local graduates and awards highlight Aiken residents
Nathaniel Keith Huber Flifler of Aiken earned a bachelor of science in business from Miami University in Oxford Tennessee during spring commencement. Caroline Salter of Aiken received a merit scholarship at the University of Georgia and is a 2003 Aiken High School graduate. John son Motor Company of Aiken was named a Buick Select Dealer and GMC Leaders of Distinction award recipient for General Motors. Kenneth Hansen Henkes of Aiken, son of Harley Gene and an Henkes, graduated from The Citadel in May with dean's list honors for the spring 2002-2003 term and earned the Gold Star.

SRTC Wins R D 100 Award for ALPES System
Researchers at the Savannah River Technology Center earn the R D 100 Award from R D magazine for the Aerosol to Liquid Particle Extraction System ALPES. The device collects airborne particles including chemical agents and microorganisms and concentrates them for analysis. Former Trenton resident Sally Wachowski Reed earns NY education certificate after master’s from the University of Pittsburgh and USC Aiken 1992 graduate now in North Hudson New York.
