County voters will decide among several home rule forms after the General Assembly passed the Home Rule Act. The Aiken Standard begins reprinting the act text Monday with explanatory stories to follow.
An Israeli government source says Egypt has generally accepted Israel concept for an interim Sinai agreement. It was unclear if Egypt endorsed Rabin's call for the withdrawal accord to be reached through direct talks. Rabin Allon and Peres met to review Egypt's reply to Israel’s latest proposals relayed by Kissinger to Dinitz.
U.S. intelligence officials warn that Israel and Egypt are escalating military postures to gain leverage in negotiations. Both sides may push too far and risk unintended fighting despite not wanting such a clash.
The Post master General says the new postal labor agreement will require raising the first class letter rate to 13 cents by year end. Bailar had hoped for 12 cents on July 1 but delays and the contract change push a 13 cent rate, though Congress considers a 12 cent limit.

Conspiracy charges against Dr. Clovis H. Pierce were dismissed by U.S. District Judge Solomon Blatt Jr. after closing testimony. Similar acts of conspiracy were dropped against Aiken County Social Services director Rhoore and Aiken County Hospital administrator J. Sam Nesbit.
The weather bureau says thundershowers are likely today with a 60 percent chance, dropping to 4 percent tomorrow. Highs near 80s and tonight's low around 72 degrees. Isolated storms may dampen weekend plans in South Carolina.
Dr. William Hale Jr will head the Advance Gifts Division of the 1975 United Way drive in Aiken County. Advance gifts, including corporate solicitations, begin the first week in August as Hale, a Savannah River Laboratory research manager, brings his experience from the Savannah River Plant to the campaign. Hale, a Paris Texas native, is a 1966 arrival to Aiken.
Ford administration and Congress face August vacation and pending Aug 31 oil price controls. A compromise could raise old oil prices gradually while satisfying Democrats seeking slower escalation. House votes loom on veto of a bill to extend and tighten price controls while taxes and futures pricing stay in flux.
Aiken City Council cancels the regular Monday night session as announced by City Manager Roland H. Windham. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 11 at 8 p.m. in Council Chambers City Hall Park Avenue.
