SCE&G seeks 119 million rate hike with planned 130 million next year
South Carolina Electric & Gas Co. requests 119 million in rate increases now and predicts up to 130 million more in spring or summer 1983. Oscar Wooten, VP for finance, cites non cash income losses from the 1.2 billion Summer nuclear plant in Fairfield County and inflation driven earnings dips. After licensing rulings, fuel loading and low power tests follow, with later book adjustments for the plant’s loss of an allowance for money used to build it. Once on line, nuclear savings of about 75 million annually will benefit customers while offsetting earlier investment losses.
