Crime and drift road incidents pepper Aiken police blotter
The Aiken Department of Public Safety reported a string of early Saturday incidents including a Burglar alarm at Huntsman Drive resulting in a front door discovery, speeding stop on Colleton Avenue with a suspended license and open container, possession of drug paraphernalia on Richland Avenue, a suspended license and marijuana possession on Pine Log Road, and marijuana with intent to distribute plus unlawful vehicle operation after a stop on Laurens Street. Damages at a Park Avenue business totaled 1533 with five heavy tools stolen, and vandalism at multiple homes including porch damage and a back door breach on Two Notch Road and Casaba Drive incidents. An 18-year-old on Boxwood Drive faced simple marijuana possession after a breaking and entering report. Land transfers for the week of June 24-28 are listed, naming numerous buyers and parcels across several subdivisions and towns. See RECORD, Page 8A.

Hummingbird Nest Reports Capture Summer Interest
Barbara Botts shared a Georgia article note about ruby throated hummingbirds nesting on a porch swing near Gainesville. The Botterffs say construction began April 20 with two eggs hatched in May and the pair fledging by May 29 and 30.
