Son follows in his father's footsteps with election as Saluda County Sheriff

Jason Booth, 27, the son of former Saluda County Sheriff George Booth, won the Democratic primary and will face no opposition in November. He traveled door to door, stressed energy and duty, and highlighted his five years in law enforcement and the support of a strong team. The department, with 19 deputies, has faced jailer shortages in recent years, but Booth plans to hire more jailers and expand facilities.
