In Charleston County a masked gunman robbed a Department of Social Services worker and an armed guard delivering food stamps to migrant workers near Red Top. The $40 521 loss, about 40 thousand dollars of stamps, was taken as the van stopped at the Sea Island center driveway. The gunman used a .38 revolver with a 2 inch barrel.

North Augusta City Council unanimously approved soliciting bids to expand the water treatment plant funded by a 1.9 million bond sale to be issued in early 1986. Phase one adds a 500 000 gallon clearwell by summer 1986 with bids due by August and total completion in summer 1987, expanding capacity from 4 to 8 million gallons daily.
