Thurmond funeral to rival South’s largest ever
The Thurmond funeral will draw national figures and a cross range of eulogists as South Carolina honors the longtime senator. President Bush ordered flags at half staff while a state house lying in state leads to a horse drawn procession to First Baptist Church. The service plans include speeches from Joe Biden Kay Patterson and Billy Wilkins with a large public turnout expected and the burial in Edgefield followed by the 60 mile procession on Interstate 20.
