NASA grounds Pluto probe launch amid high winds at Cape Canaveral
NASA scrubbed the New Horizons launch due to gusts beyond 38 mph at the launch pad, delaying a nine year mission to Pluto. MIT scientist Richard Binzel blamed meteorologists for the early winds as forecasts suggested possible thundergy and clouds. Colleen Hartman stressed the mission would rewrite textbooks despite the dwarf planet’s disputed status and the plutonium power source powering the craft.
