McVeigh presses for prompt execution date in Oklahoma City case

US lawyers report Timothy McVeigh remains determined to forgo further appeals and accept a prompt execution date. Judge Matsch had granted a deadline with the Bureau of Prisons set to pick a date as early as May. Modified monkey first genetically altered primate created

PORTLAND Oregon researchers at Oregon Health Sciences University report the birth of the first genetically modified primate a male rhesus monkey named ANDi born in October with a glowing inserted DNA marker. The team aims to study human diseases such as Alzheimer's diabetes breast cancer and HIV to block them at the genetic level. Dr Gerald Schatten notes monkeys’ similarity to humans may yield clearer disease development insights.
