USC loses Rivers to grades and transfer risk

South Carolina faces a setback as Kevin Rivers 6-3 299 pound guard will not be in school for spring semester due to academic problems, casting doubt on his return after a troubled season under Lou Holtz. The all SEC talent missed much of 1995 with injuries and coach Holtz notes the team is thin as they bow to a 0-11 season. Rivers had started the final three games late in the year and hoped to grow with the Gamecocks next season.
