Condon urges extradition in Kneece murder case

USC seeks successor to retiring chancellor

The University of South Carolina Aiken plans a search for a new chancellor as Dr. Robert Alexander retires after 17 years. Jason Snyder said the process aims to have a permanent chancellor before the 2000 2001 school year with Dr. John Palms leading the effort.

Aiken Forms Horse Advisory Committee to Address Sanitation

The Aiken City Council unanimously approved creation of the Horse Advisory Committee to study horse related issues and advise on actions. The group will meet at least annually and include residents from racing, veterinary, ecology, hunting, polo, and planning sectors. City Manager LeDuc will set guidelines as the panel prepares for council approval. Three other appointments were also approved for terms ending in 2001.

Legislature mulls flag fate as session opens in South Carolina

The South Carolina General Assembly reconvenes amid heated debate over the Confederate flag atop the Statehouse dome. Camellias to Shine at Aiken Mall Show

Colorful camellias in pink red and white will be on display at the Aiken Camellia Show held Saturday and Sunday at the Aiken Mall. Organizers note out of town judges, enthusiastic growers, and partnerships with Ikebana International. Leroy Kilpatrick of Savannah River Site contributes expertise with 15 years of camellia growing.
