Engine dedicated to firefighter Young leukemia victim honored for service
Merriwether's Volunteer Fire Department unveiled Engine 3 at Station 1 in memory of Adam Strom, 20, who died of leukemia after serving as firefighter no 628. Strom, a 1997 North Augusta High School graduate, was celebrated by Chief Rudy Brooks and fellow volunteers for his dedication and community work, including the Buck a Boot Drive for Muscular Dystrophy Association. The $162,000 Pierce International pumper will bear the gold placard honoring his legacy.
