Park Spaces Reserved for Handicapped Under Local Law

Aiken police chief J. Carrol Busbee explains that spaces marked with the international symbol of access are reserved for handicapped people and their escorts. Violators face a $5 ticket though enforcement is difficult, as proof of disability typically requires a license plate or placard. Placards and plates are issued by the South Carolina Highway Department with physician certification and a limit of two placards per applicant.
