Treasurer Seeks Additional Help to Run Office

Margie Plunkett told Aiken County Council the treasurer’s office is severely understaffed and cannot serve the public without more help. The council rejected a budget revision sought by Councilman Homer L. McGee to address a $300,000 carryover from last year. The staff shortage has left phones unanswered and work undone, with another departure expected in March. The council moved to draft an ordinance to ease the situation by February end.
