Aiken County schools weigh facility upgrades and costs
School officials estimate major renovations and new building costs across six identified campuses. Aiken High could expand on its 60 acre site for about 45 million, North Augusta High 45 million, RSM Elementary would move to the RSM High campus for 35 million, Leavelle McCampbell could gain a new school for 22 million on land beside Byrd Elementary, and on site renovations at Leavelle would cost 21 million. Jackson Middle and the Career Center also face substantial costs. Open houses and three week community meetings will run to discuss facility issues and the referendum plan.
