Tuscany restaurant closes as Harrisons move to SRS contracts

Downtown Aiken loses the Hotel Aiken Tuscany restaurant as Mark Harrison and Jamie Harrison shift to serving two SRS food courts after landing a site lunch contract. They will still offer catering while the Polo Tavern at Hotel Aiken opens lunch and dinner weekdays and weekends with evolving menus. 235 Richland Ave remains the inn address with contact numbers for the tavern and Baby Grand Catering.

Weekend thefts across Aiken Graniteville Beech Island and Midland Valley

Aiken resident reports a $175 pistol missing from Weaver Street. At Joy Street in Graniteville, about $300 in jewelry electronics and other items were stolen after a door was pried. Beech Island's Sandbar Ferry Road shop burglarized with over $1 600 in auto parts and $200 in stereo gear taken plus a vehicle. A 4 wheel ATV was moved from the site and dusted for prints. Two men were arrested Sunday after taking donations from the Salvation Army at Midland Valley shopping center and admitted the thefts.
