Citizens Park IV baseball complex replaces older city fields

The City of Aiken is replacing old fields at Old Airport Road with a $2.3 million Citizens Park Phase IV complex. The four new baseball fields for ages 11 and 12 will have 200 foot fences and meet Dixie Youth standards. Construction continues on a connector road linking all Citizens Park facilities to ease access. play is expected to begin in spring 2005.

New year brings new school for Busbee students

Wagener Busbee Elementary students return to a brand new building connected to the renovated A L Corbett Middle School. The 50 year old campus replaces the old Busbee facility and offers spacious classrooms and a new playground. Local officials and parents toured the site praising the community effort and smooth opening.

Cold snap nears with slim chance of Friday flurries

Forecasters expect a return to cooler, near record lows midweek with arctic high pressure sliding into the Southeast. Overnight readings dip to mid 20s and Wednesday may reach the mid 40s with a frigid night in the upper teens. Third leg of the Aiken Triple Crown takes shape

Plans for the new third leg of the Aiken Triple Crown are shaping up for March 27 at Powderhouse Field. The Round Robin Polo Tour nament features three local teams over nine periods with intermissions offering polo demos to grow local interest.
