Governor’s plan eyed amid budget squeeze and bond pacing

The governor aims to pace new state bonds over several years to ease education budget cuts. Phelan Building Damaged by Water Seepage and Repair Planned

Dr. Graham said the loss will be covered by the State Insurance Reserve Fund funded by taxpayers. Investigators found main damage in offices where water seeped to the first and second floors. The building, designed by LS3P Architects of Charleston and Charlotte and built by Two States Construction Co, was dried out and computers were less damaged than expected. Classes will start on time Monday.

Controlled Burns Planned Today in Hitchcock Woods

The Hitchcock Foundation plans a controlled burn of about 50 acres in the eastern portion of the 2000 acre Hitchcock Woods nature reserve today. Smoky conditions may occur near the fire between Dibble Road and Fox Chase with tentative burns also set for Friday and Saturday.
