Fired public safety officer denies claims

Frank Conoly an off duty fired public safety officer testified at a grievance hearing in Aiken denying allegations that he struck a woman with a baton or sprayed pepper spray during a Jan. 3 traffic stop on Whiskey Road. He said his aim was a warning not excessive force and disputed police department findings while noting he was told to resign or be fired.

Stolen firearms sale leads to probated term in Aiken County

Aiken County businessman Wayne Harrison, 26, received a probated sentence after pleading to counts involving stolen firearm purchases and sales. Circuit Judge Frank Eppes heard that Harrison, tied to an undercover operation with informant Michael Fields, used his Midland Valley hardware store to funnel stolen Wal Mart items.
